Dunbar's prose is so economical, think of the opposite of Lovecraft, no word is wasted. I think this is intentional. Still, details build as eeriness evolves. I can't say I "get" all the stories in this collection but I enjoyed the entire book and would recommend it to anyone interested in modern literary horror.
